This Wild Rose, also known as Rosa Acicularis is a flowering plant in the Rosaceae family. It is commonly known as the prickly wild rose, prickly rose, bristly rose, or arctic rose. We collected a few huge rose hips from a North Sea beach camp, on Baltrum Island. We have never seen anything as big as them, and they sprouted the following Spring. Now four years later we are happy to display an adult shrub with the next generation of hips ripening on the twig (see last photograph).
